thanks xxWhat do you know about the women in the novel Of mice and men?
Another woman in the novel is Lennie's aunt Clara, but they don't mention her too much. Curley's wife gives a typical portrayal of a common sexist view that women are a nuisance and that they ruin everything. From the way her own husband treats her, to the way the ranch hands scorn her, she doesn't have any respect. And the fact that Steinbeck doesn't even give her a name means that he didn't find her an important enough character to name. Other women that are briefly mentioned are the prostitutes that live in the town. They too, are treated like toys and dealt little, if any respect. What do you know about the women in the novel Of mice and men?
She represents how women didn't belong on the ranches at the time, they were seen as possessions, she is the catalyst for many of the more tragic events.
Find your own examples. The book is only six chapters long, it won't take you long.
