Gah my mice turned out to be male and female?

I got two baby mice almost 2 months ago, which were supposed to be two females. They were only two weeks old. I took care of them, and they are in a 10 gallon tank together. However, today I walked past their tank, and they were doing it. They keep doing it, too. I'm worried that Phobos (apparently the female) is now pregnant by Deimos (apparently the male). What am I supposed to do now? Separate them? What do I do?Gah my mice turned out to be male and female?
Mice have a gestation period of 19-21 days. If you can't separate them now wait until Phobos starts to get really round move her to a different cage/tank. Be sure she has plenty of food and water all the time. They can have up to 20 babies at a time although that is rare, mine had eight. After the babies are born avoid messing with the cage for a few days but of course keep feeding momma. After 3-4 days you can remove momma and check the babies be sure to mask your scent with the bedding. After about a 1 1/2 weeks they will start to get fur, but you'll be able to see their markings. At about 4 weeks they should be eating solid food you should be thinking about giving them away at about this time. Girls can be left is with momma, but the boys probably should not be put in with dad he may kill them.

Good luck!!!Gah my mice turned out to be male and female?
Lyn gave you all the factual information you need.

But have you considered that female mice often ';hump'; each other to assert dominance? It looks exactly like they're actually doing the deed, but both are female.

Make sure Deimos isn't actually a female. Look for a scrotal sac. It should be VERY apparent. If not, lift Deimos up by his/her tail and compare the distance between the anus and genitals to Phobos's. If it's the same, Deimos is female.
yes that way he dont kill the babies then after about 4 weeks after the babies are born take the male in the mother cage. and the babies in the other cage. you will then has to mother them. feed them ur self. never give them back to the mother she'll kill them. when the babies are old enought give them away. two i would say is enought for u dont keep another if it a girl the mom and kid will fight if it a bay the dad and kid will fight. good luck
Yes seperate them, until the babies are either sold or big enough to take on the male
