Whats the difference between a hamster and a gerbil? Aren鈥檛 they both just fat mice?

which is more nutritious?Whats the difference between a hamster and a gerbil? Aren鈥檛 they both just fat mice?
they both taste the same if you use mustardWhats the difference between a hamster and a gerbil? Aren鈥檛 they both just fat mice?
Hamsters have short, stubby tails and gerbils have long tails. Hamsters are nocturnal (ever heard that stupid wheel squeaking all night?) and gerbils are diurnal.
There is no difference. Pet stores jack up the price on hamsters because they are thought to be cooler by 4th graders.
i think they're the same. But my hamster ate it's babie's head off.
Hamsters and gerbils have a lot of differences. First of all the way the face is made up.

Hamsters- round

Gerbils- round but more pointed and elongated

Next is the tail,

Hamsters- short

gerbils- same size as their body length, with a tuff at the end.

Next is the socialization-

Hamsters- prefer to be alone unless with a mate or family member.

Gerbil- Love big groups of females or males, you just have to introduce them at a young age.

After that is how they eat.

Hamsters- overeat and love food

Gerbils- conserve and dink a lot less then hamsters

Then their body style-

Hamsters- big or round (usually)

Gerbils- thinner

And last of all

Hamsters- not too much on chewing plastic or cardboard

Gerbils- will chew anything plastic or cardboard. They love chewing

Idk how either of them taste, so I cant tell you if one tastes better then the other.
hamsters are not mice

but rodents endemic to Syria

all hamsters in captivity come from only a few captured in the forties

ask about gerbils in the gay section
ohh uh uh, you just didnt! hamsters are cute and cudly and friendly i dong know much about gerbils but the pics ive seen make them look like large mice with long tails that have been on drugs since they were three weeks old, no offense. like i said not to big in the gerbil department. small animals are fun to have snd sometimes just watching them entertains me, sad huh? no! its not sad! that question is like whats the difference between a yorkie and a rott, arent they both just dogs? duh theres a difference.

what in the world would you want to eat one for?! yuck!

go to petwebsite.com for good information
a jearble is part rat and a hamster is a type of mouse.
Hamsters and gerbils are unalike. Hamsters have pockets in there cheecks. Inside the cheecks pockets carry food or other hamster likings. Unlike hamsters gerbils dont have pockets but they do have a long tail. Hamsters have very short tails and they do not like to be with others. They will fight if they have to share terrirtory with other hamsters or other rodants. Gerbils love to have buddies on there sides.
Is a rat and opossum the same? NO
A hamster does not have a long tail and a gerbil does. Hamsters get much larger than gerbils.

I wouldn't eat either unless I was really starving but I don't figure the nutrition value is different other than the calorie content due to the size difference.
No, they are guinea pigs in disguise, and they secretly love to eat humans. Beware.
';The gerbil family is made up of roughly 100 species. These are 14 basic groups of gerbils. The species most commonly kept as pets is the Mongolian Gerbil, whose scientific name is Meriones unguiculatus.';

';Hamsters are small, virtually tailless, velvet-furred rodents with enormous cheek pouches. The most common and popular, both as pets and laboratory animals, is the golden or Syrian hamster. Scientific name: Mesocricetus auratus';

And the mouse..';Scientific name: Mus musculus ';

RODENT: ';any of an order (Rodentia) of relatively small gnawing mammals that have in both jaws a single pair of incisors with a chisel-shaped edge';

All are rodents, but of different species. And within those are sub-species. All have different characteristics and unique traits. It would be like saying, ';You're a mammal, so aren't you just a fat mouse?'; It's just not that simple! Hope that clears it up for you...
