How long do mice live for?

my mouse is barely moving and its not opening its eyes, or eating and drinking. ive had him for just over a year now.

i look after him well, clean his cage out all the time and feed him regularly.

with almost any small animal like a mouse, the signs you have described are not good. does it move around at all when you handle it? check on its body daily for lumps as mice are known to attract cancers very easily. an average mouse will live for 3 years so i think your little friend has an early end waiting for him/her. :-( sorry to be the bearer of bad news!

i have had two mice and they both died from cancer. one lived to 16 months and the other just short of 2 years.

the only things you can do to make it have a better little life are keep it warm, well fed with the water close by (sometimes in a bowl and not from a bottle) and unfortunately thats about it.

a few hours of stroking whilst you watching tv wont go amiss too!How long do mice live for?
my friend had a rat and it was acting funny. she took it to the vet and he told her that rodents only live for a few years he told her rats usually live max 2-3 years. but i have also heard otherwise. i think its all in the care. if your concerned with your pet you should call a vet. humane societies as well as other non profit orgs are usually cheaper. look up a local org for your type of pet in your state and post something on their blog. there are usually pet sites out there and would be more helpful in pointing you in the right direction
Mice live for 1.5-3 years so not very long compared to there relative the Chinchilla which lives for 10-20 years
