How can i tell when my Savannah (Bosc) Monitor is ready to eat mice?

Is there any way to tell if they are too big for him?

Also roughly how many a week should he eat? He is roughly 1.5ft long and up until now has lived off of crickets and eggs.

He should have been eating rodents all along. Eggs are not a complete diet item and tend to lead to obesity problems, you should try and phase those out. Even sav hatchlings are usually large enough to handle a pinky, if a hatchling is on the small side it's best to chop up a frozen/thawed til the animal gains some size.

At 1.5 feet your sav is more than big enough to handle a mouse. Go get some frozen feeder rodents, pinkies, hoppers, fuzzies or adults, or even rat pups (you will quickly learn what is the right size for your sav), put one or two in a zip-loc under hot water til it is completely thawed and warm, and offer it to your sav on a dish or with tongs. You could also put a couple of live pinkies in there for him. I would avoid larger live rodents til he is used to having rodents as a part of his diet (feeding f/t also eliminates the parasite factor).

I have two savs I'm fostering at the moment that are slightly smaller than yours, their diet is ~

Daily ~ Crickets and/or roaches

Three X's a week ~ Two f/t mice

Once or twice a week I give them a couple of snails

These were underweight, sad looking lizards when I got them in and are now gorgeous, growing beasts almost ready to be adopted out.

My older savs that are part of my personal collection get bugs every other day and rodents 2 X's a week. I do breed my own feeder prey so am better able to choose the perfect sized rodents for my individual animals... I use a CO2 kill chamber and zip-loc the rodents with the reptiles name written on the bag, freeze them and I always have the correct sized feeder prey on hand for each of my reptiles. How can i tell when my Savannah (Bosc) Monitor is ready to eat mice?
Uh, put the mouse in the cage. If he eats it, he's ready to eat mice. Or just turn him loose, preferably in Florida, you will eventually any way. Why not get a real pet instead of an emotionless tube with teeth?
If he is a foot and a half, you can go with fuzzies or maybe hoppers. You can give him a couple a week. I would go with prekilled, it is safer.
savs are ready to eat adult mice from day one. you just need to chop them (the mice) up hahahahahahahahahahah!
